LEVEL A
This
is the lower of the two levels
of workshops today.
Appropriate for our Salsa
Beginner students.
Expected
knowledge and ability - Basic
footwork and partnering, basic
right turn, basic left turn,
cross body lead, cross body
lead with inside turns and
outside turns, should have
a few turn patterns and variations
under your belt. You should
understand the timing of Salsa
and be able to hold the beat
of the music for a good period
while doing combinations. |

FOOT-WORK

Description:
Ever
found yourself on the dance
floor while dancing with a
partner, then separating into
solo position, and not knowing
what to do, or doing the same
footwork combinations all
the time? Well Friday night
is the last time that would
happen. This workshop would
teach you all the footwork
you can handle in one hour.
You would perform these steps
to interesting music choices,
and learn how to execute them
fluidly with energy. |

STYLING] [LADIES STYLING] [PARTNERING
W/ STYLE] - United

Description:
In this
workshop, Men would learn several
masculine movements, while ladies
would learn several feminine
movements. Leaders and followers
would each be shown how these
movements could be used to express
basic figures you know, cross
body lead, inside turns, right
turn, left turn, and more. The
class will close with learning
a pattern that brings these
concepts to life.

PATTERNS W/ FLICKS & WRAPS

Description:
In
this workshop you would learn
a turn pattern that uses creative
arm and hand movements to create
illusions, and present some
of the most elegant and fluid
partner work on the dance floor.

This is the higher of the
two levels of workshops today.
Appropriate for our Salsa
Intermediate & Advanced
students, & dance team
members.
Expected
Knowledge and ability - All
of "Level A" plus
you should have several turn
patterns under your belt,
should already be working
on or proficient in double
turns and possibly triples.
Should be more consistent
with timing. Should have started
venturing into the world of
styling and spinning. Change
of direction should also be
a concept you understand.
You
should feel comfortable with
the notion of doing or leading
more than a single
inside or outside turn through
your Cross body lead.

FOOTWORK
W/ BODY MOVEMENT - Taught

Description:
In this
workshop, you would learn
several footwork variations
with elements of
body movement styling for
men and women. We will be
focusing on
incorporating your shoulders,
ribcage, and other parts of
your body you
didn't think you could move
to footwork variations. At
the end of the workshop, we'll
put all the pieces together
and conduct a shine showdown
between leaders and followers
that will be sure to help
improve your individual dancing
as well as your partnering
interaction. |

track features timing, footwork,
styling and turn patterns
in 3 of the more popular Latin
dances you would find dancers
dancing to at clubs, dance
studio, and other dance venues.
While Level A dancers learn
the steps and movements of
the footwork sequences and
turn patterns, Level B dancers
will learn techniques and
patterns in spinning, styling,
and movement, that will be
used to embellish these footwork
sequences and turn patterns. |

Description:
With
the strong rhythm of the Cha
Cha, professional dancers
find it inevitable to express
the music with their entire
bodies. Level A dancers will
focus on learning timing and

while Level B dancers will

the Cha Cha by adding movement
and isolations to bring your
Cha Cha to life. |

up your bachata? In this workshop,
we will uncover some of the
cool twists and turns, and
seductive partner movements
that make the bachata a dance
to crave! Level A dancers
will focus on learning timing
and associated footwork, while
Level B dancers will focus
on learn how to express the
bachata with a verity of movements. |

Description:
Dancing
with expression to music starts
with having an ear for music.
In this workshop, You will
take a journey into the instruments,
instrumentality, and rhythms
of Latin music! You will also
learn how to differentiate
the different styles of popular
latin music, find the beats
in these styles of music,
and also identify beat patterns
in songs that you can express
to. You will learn how to
dance to what's going on within
the music, rather than just
executing turn patterns.

AFRO-LATIN
MOVEMENTS GUAGUANCO - Taught

Description:
This
workshop features movements
from the roots of Latin dance.
With it's origins in Africa,
Guaguanco captures and embodies
in dance, the history and
life of the African slaves
exported to the Americas.
The strength and expressiveness
of these movements are what
makes it a perfect tool for
conveying history and stories
without words. Learn the many
body isolations needed and
create these expressions.

CHOREOGRAPHY
& STAGE PERFORMANCE (short
piece) - Taught
by: United Salsero
Description:
Choreography
and stage performance brings
expression full cycle. A good
choreographer always choreographs
musically, so you have to
have a good ear for the music.
You also have to have a developed
ability to create the movements
required by the piece. Lastly
you have to be able to project
it to the viewing audience.
This workshop brings all these
pieces together through a
short piece you will learn.
